See How Delays Affect Your Bottom Line
There’s a common question that nearly every business leader and stakeholder has heard at least once: Is it in the budget?
If you are a building owner you know the importance of HVAC. You also know that when these systems require repair or replacement, significant cost beyond your budget can be incurred.
Falling into the trap of prioritizing short term budget constraints over the long-term health of your facility will have longstanding consequences. Delayed HVAC repair/replacement results in increased costs for your business due to a couple factors:
1. Inflation: As the price of goods and services increases over time, so will the cost of repairs on HVAC systems. The OFCC shows the cost of HVAC replacement in 2020 averaged at $27.00 per square foot; but in 2022, that average rose to $49.25 per square foot. With estimated inflation expected to average around 35% in 2023, repair costs can only continue to rise.
2. Indirect Costs: If an HVAC system is not working as expected, it can create problems that aren’t immediately obvious to the budget. This can include increased energy bills due to inefficiency, decreased productivity from uncomfortable indoor temperatures, and potential health problems caused by poor indoor air quality.

Identify Problems and Create Long-Term Savings
Cost of Delay has no clear formula: savings and costs can often be intangible and hard to quantify. For the costs we can quantify, Gardiner has created this calculator to show year-to-year increases, and to highlight just how much you can save over time through staying proactive in HVAC maintenance:
